A SCHOOLBOY had to be rushed to hospital following a playground accident on Friday.

The 13-year-old Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe pupil had to be revived during his lunch- break after a wrestling game went horribly wrong.

He was said by his head teacher to be recovering in hospital following his ordeal.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed they were at the scene for around 30 minutes fighting a desperate battle to keep the boy alive.

Head teacher David Williams said: "It was touch and go at one stage, and we were all incredibly concerned. I have since received a telephone call that the pupil is thankfully making a steady recovery."
