A TOWNHILL school play area could be expanded.

Plans for Sea View Community School were explained to Education Minister Leighton Andrews when he visited this week.

Mr Andrews said: "I am encouraged that Councillor Mike Day and his officials could see the value to the community of freeing up this council-owned land."

Councillor Day, who accompanied the minister on his visit, said: "It was the first time I had been made aware of it and I will look into the proposition when it comes my way."

Swansea West AM Julie James added: "I am delighted that Councillor Day is happy to look into our proposition, I would like to thank him for taking on board this new information during our tour. I, and I'm sure the head of Sea View Community Primary School, Dawn Phillips, would be more than happy to sit down with the cabinet member and discuss the positives for the school and community of freeing up council owned land."
