SIMON Easterby believes the addition of a third South African forward to his Scarlets squad will help them challenge Europe's leading clubs over the coming years.

Easterby (inset) has fitted the final piece into his recruitment jigsaw by landing 26-year-old second row Joe Snyman from Eastern Province Kings.

The Scarlets say Snyman, who has penned a three-year deal, is due to arrive in Llanelli in the coming month and will join compatriots George Earle — who made his Pro12 debut against Leinster on Saturday — and Golden Lions prop Jacobie Adriaanse at the West Wales region.

The capture of the former South Africa Under-19 international will be the Scarlets' seventh signing of a busy close season and adds depth to a second-row pool that has already been boosted by the signing of Argentina lock Tomas Vallejos, Welsh-qualified Aussie Jake Ball and former Osprey Richard Kelly, who has joined feeder club Carmarthen Quins.
