Have Your Say: Our town is sinking fast
ONCE there was a thriving town which we call Briton Ferry which had steel works, gas works, busy docks and many more heavy industries giving work for everyone.
Then eventually the people we voted in office to take care of our amenities, decided to take our hospital from us, the bank quickly followed. Then the local filling station disappeared.
After spending thousands of pounds on repairs it was then decided "why not shut one of the best schools in Wales" (which showed excellent results). This has not happened yet, as the residents have woken up and are fighting against its closure.
The local pubs and shops are disappearing as quick as our rubbish bins are cleared. There was nothing left for the residents but a game of bowls.
So now those people that we voted in have decided "Let's close the bowling greens or make them pay double the existing price and then leave them to maintain it themselves".
Finally, those unfortunate to have injuries or ailments that restrict them from active sports participation could sit in the garden and read a good book. Alas those good boys we have put in power said "Let's close the library and the local police station".
We are sinking fast.
