Have Your Say: Why the silence on MP pay rises?
I TOTALLY agree with MP Sian James's remarks about the obscene increases in our electricity and gas prices. However, it does make you wonder why she has not commented on the obscene pay increase (£10,000, approx 15 per cent) for MPs, especially given the present economic climate.
And politicians wonder why so many people do not vote, its not apathy I suspect but disgust at politicians of all shades.
How can MPs accept their pay rise and yet sleep at night when NHS staff are refused their meagre recommended 1 per cent pay rise?
Could it be that many of them have never held a proper job in the real world and so have a rather inflated sense of their own worth?
Finally, a hearty well done to Swansea West MP, Geraint Davies, for having the decency to publicly state that he will not be taking the £10,000 increase. I wonder if the rest of our local MPs would care to tell us whether they will follow his example?
