Have Your Say: Scrap dual candidacy
I'M sorry to have to disagree with Mr Giffard (Post, Oct 22), however I should point out the only people to promote "hangers on" will be those leading the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties. I say this because it is they that are legislating to allow the return of duel candidacy in Welsh Assembly elections, which permit those who lose a constituency election to get elected on the regional list.
This is something I believe to be perverse to the principles of democracy and plainly wrong and it is only those in Welsh Labour opposing it. We recognise that when one loses an election that should be final until the next round of elections.
Furthermore, while I also know Suzy Davies and Byron Davies to be kind and principled individuals, may I also suggest that Mr Giffard's comments are sourced not from fact but instead because he works in their offices. One is reminded when reading his comments of the saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you".
