Have Your Say: Road safety steps ignored
I LIVE in Park Heol Brynhuelog. The roads have yet to be adopted and some paving areas need repair. Speeding seems to be the norm around here.
In Heol Las there are 20mph signs but people read these in reverse as 50mph is the norm.
There is no bus service to this site which has affected the residents badly with inconvenience and health and safety.
Under European law there should be a bus service and until that is implemented there should be a public safety right of passage to the existing bus stops.
Checking online, as I just did, there has to be footpaths on both sides of the road with correct safety lighting.
We are denied both no lights and path only on one side.
There is no footbridge or zebra crossing either so if we want a bus going right we need police escort owing to the speed track on Heol Las in a 20mph zone.
The council are in breach of law on this issue and unless they give clear intention of a remedy for this breach I will take the matter up directly with Brussels.
