Have Your Say: Hear classic as intended
I WAS delighted to read the article entitled "Venue switch due to revamp saves festive music highlight" (Post, Sept 2).
The Swansea-based chamber choir In Spiritu, is taking The Messiah back to its original form.
It was written by Handel for a small choir (only 32 sang at the first performance) and a modest number of instrumentalists.
It was only after Handel's death that the work was adapted for the larger choirs and orchestras.
The Brangwyn Hall being unavailable this year has given us the opportunity to hear The Messiah as Handel intended.
Well done Mr Davies and In Spiritu for taking the initiative and good luck for the concert.
I hope that all those who had been disappointed at thinking that the Messiah was not being staged this year in Swansea, will now travel just that little bit further to Mumbles.
I certainly look forward to hearing you on December 13 at All Saints.
