Have Your Say: Drivers must take better care
WHITE van man Roy Thomas (Post, Sept 7) is quite right about the problems encountered when leaving the M4 eastbound at junction 45 at Ynysforgan.
Both lanes on the slip road can be used if you are heading towards Swansea, but the vast majority of drivers enter in the right hand lane and completely ignore the dotted white line when joining the roundabout, veering across the dotted white line from the right to the left lane, cutting in front of drivers in the left lane, dangerously missing the point of two lanes entering the roundabout.
Short of an Armco barrier separating these two lanes, what do the authorities have to do to educate drivers on the correct, safe way to use the slip road?
The white lines are clear enough, but they are completely ignored. This state of affairs has existed ever since the two lanes to Swansea were introduced some years ago.
I use the junction from the west regularly, but every time I do I witness this stupid behaviour. Our road planners must come out of their offices and spend half an hour on the footbridge above the junction to see what is going on.
