Have Your Say: Choosing the natural way
I RECENTLY had a holiday on a naturist site in southern Spain and it was a sharp reminder of how poorly served naturists are in the UK, especially Wales.
While, for instance, France, Spain, Germany and Italy have scores of official beaches as well as many full resorts (with hotels, restaurants, apartments, chalets etc), there is still not one official naturist beach in the whole of South Wales — there is one in North Wales near Barmouth.
It would cost the council nothing more than putting up two boards stating, for example, "Naturist Beach for 200 yards". In England there are nine, with scores of unofficial beaches.
Here we can enjoy hundreds of miles of lovely sandy beaches — many are huge/remote/not easily reached. Continental visitors must wonder why Wales offers no proper opportunity for naturists.
I camped and caravanned on naturist sites from 1970-1987 most years in Europe and have had many holidays in naturist hotels and resorts since. Sadly I find almost no improvement in tolerance in over 40 years.
