Have Your Say: Blow open wind debate
A RETIRED West Wales electricity meter reader informed me in person this week that a Carmarthenshire wind farm, where he used to read the meter, frequently used fossil fuel generated electricity from the National Grid, rather than generate electricity from the wind for the grid.
This is known as "parasitic consumption".
He also remarked that at times, one or two wind turbines in a wind farm would be seen turning in windless conditions, whilst the rest were static, showing the former were being "motored" by the National Grid, and not the non-existent wind.
What a complete and utter sham.
There should be an in-depth, totally independent, investigation into what is going on at UK wind farms. After all, we are paying for them.
