Saving made on school work costs
A NEW Llanelli school was redeveloped for £405,000 less than expected, a report to Carmarthenshire Council's executive board showed.
The £4.1 million extension to Halfway School opened last April.
An update on the authority's capital spending programme for this year noted: "Total costs came in under budget."
The council has also found savings of £75,000 from the Llanelli library refurbishment.
Spending on the East Gate Development in Llanelli is £726,000 behind target, but the report does not reveal whether this is down to savings or delayed spending.
Accelerated work on housing at Trilwm has seen an extra £200,000 spent, while £350,000 has been spent ahead of schedule on the Dinefwr schools project, which involves two Gwendraeth Valley schools.
The executive board approved the full update of 16 changes to this year's capital programme.
Council leader Meryl Gravell said: "It is good to see the work that is happening throughout the county."
