THE first round of the 7-Man Cup took place in the Absolute Snooker Swansea Clubs League.

In division one, last year's runners-up Salisbury A were home to Sketty Club and the visitors could be forgiven for wondering what they had done to deserve what can only be described as a mauling as they lost 3-0.

Marcel Price started the onslaught with a 44 break in the opening frame, Kristian Phelps then knocked in a 62 break to take frame two, and Tom Rees finished the match with a 58.

Penlan A caused something of a surprise when they hosted an in-form Swansea Dockers A. The home side won the opening two frames on the black before Mark Blyth gave Dockers some hope by taking frame three.

But it was not enough as Penlan clinched frame four and the match 3-1.

Cwmfelin A were home to Swansea Labour B and raced into a 2-0 lead before Labour won frame three to reduce their arrears.

But they could not stop the hosts, who clinched the match when they won frame four.

Mumbles Cons A went two frames down in their home clash with Beechwood A before turning the match around to record a 3-2 win.

Swansea Dockers B took a tight opening frame at St Illtyd's A before the home side hit back to take a 2-1 lead.

Dockers levelled with a black-ball win in frame four and took the match by winning frame five.

Rileys B hosted Rileys A and the B team ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

In division two, Mansel Workingmen's B were too strong for visitors St Illtyd's C as they won 3-0. Armine B beat St Illtyd's D 3-1, the visitors' only frame win coming thanks to a 30 break from D Knill.

The clash between Morriston Workingmen's and St Illtyd's B was close in every frame, with four of the five going to the black, with the home side eventually winning 3-2.

Swansea Dockers C's home game against Armine A went to the deciding frame which Calvin Howells won to give Armine a 3-2 win. Sketty Park A were home to Swansea Labour C and were in top form as they won 3-0
