Sacking threat disgusts me
I HAVE been a member of a union for 51 years: also a member of the Labour Party.
After recently listening to debates about the rights of union members in the TUC it disgusts me to find that we've got a Labour council down here, led by David Phillips, that, because a union disagrees with the council because some of their members are going to lose money and shift allowances, Mr Phillips should threaten to sack people unless they do what they're told.
I think that Mr Phillips belongs to Unite union and if so, he ought to be ashamed of himself that he is using bullying tactics.
I have been worried all along that Mr Milliband and now I think Mr Phillips are trying to end what Thatcher started.
This country is where it is today because of the unions and in this day and age people are struggling to keep their heads above water. The last thing we need is bullies and people who say they stick up for the working class on one hand and attack them with another. Mr Phillips ought to be ashamed of himself.
