STORM CLAIMS FOUR LIVES
FOUR people died after the storm battered southern Britain yesterday, leading to 600,000 homes losing power, and rail and flight cancellations.
The strongest gust of 99mph was recorded on the Isle of Wight. Among the areas worst affected were the south coast of England, London, and Suffolk.
Network Rail said the damage to railway lines had been "worse than expected", with more than 100 trees on the lines.
