SKIPPER Sam Warburton has been ruled out of Wales's Six Nations clash against France in Paris on Saturday with Ryan Jones taking over the captaincy.

Warburton has failed to recover from a shoulder 'stinger' injury suffered in the defeat to Ireland last weekend.

Jones, who missed the Cardiff loss, has recovered from a damaged thumb and slots in at blindside flanker in a new-look back-row.

He will lead Wales for a record 30th time.

Jones replaces Aaron Shingler, who is named on the bench, while Justin Tipuric will wear the No. 7 jersey after his impressive contribution off the bench against Ireland.

Wales interim coach Rob Howley has made three changes in all with another Osprey, hooker Richard Hibbard, replacing Matthew Rees, who drops out of the match-day squad.

There is no change behind the scrum with Jamie Roberts set to win his 50th cap at the Stade de France.

On the bench Lou Reed comes in for the injured Olly Kohn.

Wales have released James King, Ryan Bevington, (Ospreys), Josh Turnbull (Scarlets), Josh Navidi, Scott Andrews and Andries Pretorius (all Blues) back to their regions for this weekend's Pro12 action.

Unavailable for selection due to injury were Warburton (Blues), Eli Walker (Ospreys), Kohn (Harlequins) and Tavis Knoyle (Scarlets).

WALES: Leigh Halfpenny, Alex Cuthbert, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, George North, Dan Biggar, Mike Phillips, Gethin Jenkins, Richard Hibbard, Adam Jones, Andrew Coombs, Ian Evans, Ryan Jones (capt), Toby Faletau, Justin Tipuric. Reps: Ken Owens, Paul James, Craig Mitchell, Lou Reed, Aaron Shingler, Lloyd Williams, James Hook, Scott Williams.
