Rumours flying over police search riddle
A MAJOR police investigation at a house in a Neath suburb remains shrouded in mystery.
Officers have now confirmed they were originally called to Cadoxton Terrace following an alleged domestic incident.
But this led them to carry out a search linked to a separate criminal investigation, which saw officers present there for most of last week — leaving neighbours mystified. The nature of this second investigation has not been disclosed, but rumours are still rife in the area.
Police have told the Post a 63-year-old man was arrested in connection with the domestic incident at Cadoxton Terrace, but he is not a suspect for any other crime.
One woman living close to Cadoxton Terrace said: "The police were here all day for most of the week, then they left. We were all trying to find out what was going on, but they told us they couldn't say anything.
"It was all very strange. We've heard rumours, but we have not been able to find out anything for definite."
A police spokesman told the Post: "On January 27 police arrested a 63-year-old man following a domestic incident at Cadoxton Terrace in Neath.
"The man was questioned at Neath Police Station and is currently on bail pending further inquiries.
"As a result of information received during the investigation, police obtained a warrant to conduct a search of the property in Cadoxton Terrace in relation to a separate criminal investigation, which has now been concluded. The suspect for the domestic incident is not a suspect for any other crime at this stage.
"It would be inappropriate to comment further on this matter," he added.
