Rossi chip shop puts on birthday spread for regular customer for her 100th birthday

SHE'S had her chips — and then some!

And for Violet Rowe there is only one place in Swansea to go.

The great-grandmother from Townhill recently celebrated her 100th birthday, and was taken by her family for a meal in Mumbles.

But the sprightly centenarian is more regularly a visitor at Rossi's fish and chip shop in Landore.

Despite her age, she visits the landmark store opposite the Liberty Stadium up to four times every week, and has been doing so for the past 19 years.

And she has become such a fixture, that staff now prepare for a visit when they know she is on her way.

Rossi's supervisor Roxanne Thompson said: "Violet comes here up to four times a week.

"She is funny, and she is up for a bit of a giggle.

"She has a good appetite for age, and will often have a pie or something else with her chips.

"When we see the car she is in pull up, we get ready to greet, and open the doors for her.

"I'm sure she comes here because the chips are so good, but it is probably something to do with the staff as well, because we go out of our way to help".

Rossi's is a favourite with hungry Swans and Ospreys fans, who descend on the shop after games at the Liberty Stadiu m.

And its hard-working staff pulled out the stops to welcome their regular visitor when they knew Violet's 100th birthday was approaching.

They prepared a birthday spread for her as she was brought to the shop, as usual, by son-in-law Keith and daughter Heather — her very own chip off the old block.
