“"Roof racks on a motorway lanes" - this is more common than you think. I used to drive too many miles on the UK motorway system and you unfortunately regularly saw car roof racks complete with suitcases in a motorway lane with cars swerving to miss it. I have even seen a large set of ladders in lane 3 (fast lane) on the M4 near Cardiff and there's not a lot you can do to retrieve these items once they fall off. Many cases (no pun intended) are down to not checking the security of the roof rack before loading it up with you large suitcases and also not taking into effect that at speed these suitcases provide quite a high resistance to the air as you drive putting a large force on them. This together with an insecure roof rack leads to the roof rack falling off. A few minutes spend checking on the roof rack could save you thousands in insurance claims from your roof rack hitting other vehicles.”

“The Evening Post, once again, finds itself being the champion of lost or abandoned roof racks. They are now setting up a charity and a freephone number for any roof rack owners who may have been adversely affected by this story.
No humans were harmed in the rescue of the roof rack.”

“Stupid article. Why not get it removed rather than writing an article about it. This is the most pathetic article I've ever read. Do drivers really check the EP before setting out?”

“Speed limit has now been set to 0mph whilst all drivers check the evening post for a traffic update.
What a wasted article. By now I should imagine the item has been recovered.”
