Should Romania be part of the EU after stray dog killings?
In Romania this week the Romanian Government has passed a law to kill all stray dogs in Bucharest within 14 days after a murder of a 4 year old boy was found. I am welsh/scottish and I am trying to reach out to the media around England to highlight this crisis which obviously effects us all as part of the EU too. As a nation of dog lovers we need to address this atrocity and contact out local MEP's and ask what they think and what they can do to help the dogs which are being blamed for this little boy's murder.
Since the Romanian government exposed this story, many local romanians are out in force on a vigilante hunt and killing the dogs without mercy by battering them to death and hanging them.
This has to end and it is only by our support we can do something to stop this madness.
35,000 dogs will be killed in their public shelters if they cannot find homes for them and in truth euthanisa in Romania is unfortunately not comparable to the humane and dignified we speak of in the UK.
If you want to help there are plenty of active petitions to sign and groups to join. Please help the stray dogs. This Government ignored the deaths of many children in their orphanges and why should they care about one child's death?
This is just the excuse they wanted and now thousands of dogs will die due to uncircumstantial evidence on how this little boy actually died.
