Apart from the Rolex Oyster Jubilee watch, associated with the James Bond in the Ian Fleming books, they stole two gold chains, one with a blue and black stone fob, the other with an amber fob, pearl earrings, a diamond and a small amount of cash.
Detective Constable Richard Lloyd, of Neath CID said "The items of jewellery stolen during this burglary are quite distinctive, in particular the gents' Rolex watch.
"There is little doubt the thieves will try to sell on the property, possibly through a local jeweller shop, pawnbrokers or those who deal primarily in second-hand jewellery.
"The victims of this burglary are an elderly couple and have been left very upset as a result of their jewellery being stolen.
"I am appealing to anyone who has information about the burglary to come forward and also those in the jewellery trade. If they are suspicious about anybody trying sell a Rolex watch, we would ask them to contact us."
Anyone with information should contact DC Lloyd at Neath CID on 01639 640204, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
