Rocker's tribute to his 'buddy'
WELSH musician John Cale has paid tribute to former bandmate Lou Reed, who died on the weekend.
The artist from Ammanford co-founded influential band the Velvet Underground with Reed in the 1960s.
Writing on his Facebook page, Cale, aged 71, said: "he world has lost a fine songwriter and poet… I've lost my 'school-yard buddy'."
Tributes from across the music world have poured in for the iconic Reed, who had a liver transplant in May.
Widely-regarded as one of the most influential bands of all time, the Velvet Underground released two acclaimed albums in the late 1960s before Cale left the band.
