Robbie Fowler praises "unbelievable" Brendan Rodgers ahead of Swansea City return
BRENDAN Rodgers returns to Swansea City on Monday with praise from a Liverpool legend ringing in his ears.
Robbie Fowler has hailed the Reds boss ahead of the Liberty clash after Rodgers led Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool may be only three games into the new top-flight season, but Fowler has seen enough from the Northern Irishman over the last season or so to suggest he will become a huge success on Merseyside.
"We have not been top of the league for a long, long time but there is now a light at the end of the tunnel," said the former Liverpool striker.
"Brendan Rodgers is building a fantastic team and I think he's an unbelievable young manager and he is getting his philosophies and beliefs into Liverpool and the crowd have really taken to it.
"I can see happy things happening for Liverpool with Brendan."
Rodgers has also been boosted by some fitness news.
Daniel Sturridge is battling to recover from a thigh injury in time to feature at the Liberty, but he is tipped to make it along with Kolo Toure and Joe Allen.
Allen was ruled out of Wales duty with a hamstring strain, while Toure has been nursing a groin problem.
Former Swansea midfielder Allen may have to settle for a place on the bench in two days' time after being used mainly as a substitute this term.
Another back in SA1 is Rodgers, who spoke highly of the side he left 15 months ago.
"It's a wonderful club. They have just continued to move forward. I'm sure they will be vying for a top-ten spot," he said.
"I know from being a manager that you never have an easy game at the Liberty Stadium."
