Right decision was made
SWANSEA Council made the right decision in approving the Mynydd y Gwair Wind Farm.
The development of renewable energy is essential to our future, to limit the risks of climate change and replace diminishing fossil fuels which are becoming increasingly expensive.
However, campaigners who opposed the wind farm should not simply scapegoat the council and their professional adviser who provided sound legal guidance.
The real decision was made by the inquiry inspector who turned down the application solely because of concerns over the peat bog, which the developer has addressed by reducing the number of turbines from 19 to 16.

He did not reject the application on the grounds presented by SOCME.
Fortunately, the council were not swayed by the irrational pleas made by two dinosaurs of the previous administration who as experienced councillors must have been aware their position was considered "unreasonable" in legal terms and would simply delay the inevitable and lead to the council incurring unnecessary expenditure.
Such irresponsible behaviour, particularly at a time of economic restraint, would have been unforgivable!
