Richard Burton's star to finally shine on Hollywood Boulevard
RICHARD Burton has finally been honoured on Hollywood Boulevard.
A star has been unveiled for the Pontrhydyfen actor.
It has been placed next to the star of Elizabeth Taylor, the Oscar-winning actress he married and divorced twice.
The plaque will join nearly 2,500 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard.

Chairman of Swansea University's Richard Burton Advisory Board, Aberavon MP Hywel Francis, said he was pleased to see the star finally being unveiled yesterday, St David's Day.
"I am sure everyone in Richard Burton's hometown of Port Talbot and indeed the whole of Wales will be delighted with this well deserved and overdue honour for Wales's first of our many great actors," he said.
Burton's niece Siân Owen was in Los Angeles on behalf of S4C and with a film crew from Llanelli-based Tinpolis production company.
They are filming a programme, Seren Burton, which will celebrate the actor though the memories of someone who knew him well.
"I'm very grateful to S4C and Tinopolis for taking me there for the ceremony," said Siân.
"I think my late mother would be very glad I was able to go, as one of the family who still lives in Pontrhydyfen.
"I was very close to my Uncle Rich and I'm looking forward to seeing family members who live in America and I've not seen for some time. And everyone there to celebrate Uncle Rich."
This is the first time that Siân has visited LA for several years.
But at one time she would regularly visit to stay will her uncle and his wife Elizabeth Taylor.
She said she was delighted to see his star on Hollywood Boulevard at last.
"At last the stone is placed on Hollywood Boulevard with a star in memory of my uncle," she said.
"They always wanted to be together, and at last here are the two stars placed side by side."
The programme will include some of Burton's favourite haunts and interviews with Hollywood Welshmen Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Sheen as they consider the influence Richard Burton had on them.
In November the Richard Burton trail was extended from the Afan Valley to Taibach, where he spent his childhood and teenage years.
Highlights of the "childhood trail" include a memorial flowerbed which has been created within Talbot Memorial Park and displays an unpublished poem written by Burton.
It also includes the co-op where he worked and the school — Dyffryn Comprehensive School — where his acting potential was recognised by teacher Philip Burton.
Seren Burton will be showed on S4C on Thursday, March 14 at 8.25pm.
