Resolve wind farm issues
LAST week's report on the life span of wind turbines by the Renewable Energy Foundation should make us aware of the possibility that hundreds of derelict wind turbines, coated with indestructible toxic chemicals, will be left rotting on Welsh mountains for hundreds of years.
The report, based on analysis of Danish and UK wind farms, states that wind turbine life span is 10 to 15 years not the 25 years on which financial calculations have been made. By year 12 the electricity output could from a wind turbine is approximately half that of year one, making a nonsense of the claimed reductions in CO² greenhouse gases.
The shorter life span also means that investors will not receive the anticipated 25 years of profits and will be unwilling to renew the clapped out turbines after 10 years. After pocketing huge profits for 10 to 15 years unscrupulous wind farm owners could renege on their agreements to dismantle the turbines and reinstate the environment, for example by placing the ownership of the turbines into worthless "shell" companies and liquidating them. The Assembly has over the years ignored pleas from South Wales Alternatives To Turbines and others to ensure wind farm developers sign up to a 'performance bond', an insurance company backed agreement to remove non-working turbines and reinstate the landscape. This report could be the final nail in the coffin of UK wind farms. We now call upon the Assembly to impose a moratorium on wind farms until this is resolved.

“These coldest winter months are also those when wind turbines are motionless due to lack of wind. These unpredictable windless periods force electricity companies to buy gas for the 'backup' generators on the extremely expensive spot price market. Unfortunately for electricity users, even when the windmills are motionless we they cost us money as each windmill receives subsidies up to £40 every hour, £1000 per day paid for by consumers, including those enduring Fuel Poverty. Our sacrifices of living standards is unheeded by Germany, China, India and other countries who open at least one new dirty coal fired power station every week and intend to do so for at least the next ten years, increasing global CO2 emissions by at least 2% every year. This is ten times Wales CO2 emissions, thus if Wales had zero CO2 emissions, additional emissions by other countries would still increase global CO2 by at least 2%
every year for the foreseeable future. Wales futile efforts to reduce global CO2 emissions is similar to King Canute trying to hold back the tides and after 20 years of no rise in global temperatures in spite of rising CO2 emissions other countries must be laughing at Wales as Canute's subjects laughed at him.”

“John Davies,
I'm not losing ANY plot. Your opinion of my "sounding off " only comes from capital letters, but WHY should capitals be ANY DIFFERENT from lower case. Capitals are for emphasis, just as the Press uses them.
Also, if you go to Iceagenow.com , you will see plenty of articles in capitals ...PLUS A LOT OF COMMON SENSE ON "GLOBAL WARMING".
On iceagenow.info , you will see severe winter weather ALL OVER THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE AT PRESENT .....with BIG snow in lots of locations from Seattle to Europe to Asia .
OF COURSE, I am right about wind turbines......I started campaigning in 1997 and have HARDLY STOPPED writing since then......WEEK IN, WEEK OUT !!
.I have written THOUSANDS of Press letters......with three even published in the STORNOWAY GAZETTE...to fight the descration of the ISLE OF LEWIS in the HEBRIDES !!
What do I see in Wales ? A half-dead people who CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO ATTACK WIND TURBINES IN THE PRESS........BUT ARE ALWAYS.......ALWAYS.......READY TO ATTACK TRIVIAL MATTERS LIKE CAPITAL LETTERS AND EXCLAMATION MARKS !!!!!!!
THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE PROBLEM.......THE SHEER PETTINESS OF MANY OF THE INHABITANTS OF WALES !!
NO-ONE IN THIS COUNTRY CAN TELL ME I AM WRONG ABOUT WIND ENERGY ........WHEN I KNOW [NOT JUST "THINK" ] I AM RIGHT.
AS THE GLOBALLY WARMED SNOW FALLS THICKLY ON THE "MILD" WELSH COAST....FOR THE FIFTH ........YES FIFTH, ..........CONSECUTIVE WINTER , AFTER THE GLOBAL WARMING MORONS TOLD US ,AROUND 2005 , THAT "WE WOULD NEVER SEE SNOW ON SNOWDON AGAIN !"
WHAT PRATS !!
OTHER PRATS PLANTED PALM TREES IN ESSEX , BECAUSE WE WERE "GOING TO HAVE HOT MEDITERRANEAN SUMMERS AND MILD WINTERS "" FOR EVERMORE.
BRILLIANT FORECAST, THAT !!
TODAY, MY OLD COLLEAGUE FROM AN ITV CURRENT AFFAIRS PROGRAMME IN 2001 , THE ADMIRABLE BOTANIST , PROFESSOR DAVID BELLAMY , TOLD THE WORLD IN THE DAILY MAIL, HOW HE HAD BEEN OSTRACISED AND CUT ADRIFT AS A BROADCASTER ,BY THE BBC , FOR SAYING HE HATED USELESS WIND TURBINES AND THAT HE DID NOT BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING CAUSED BY CO2 AND **** SAPIENS.
DAVID BELLAMY AND MYSELF CONFRONTED THE MONEY-GRABBING DR DAFYDD HUWS [PLAID CYMRU] AND ANOTHER GREENIE IN A TV DEBATE OVER 11 YEARS AGO ! THEY BOTH SUPPORTED A HUGE WIND FARM AT CAMDDWR , EAST OF TREGARON IN THE "GREAT DESERT OF WALES ".
THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE REST OF WALES COULD NOT CARE LESS.......UNTIL THE MONSTERS APPEAR IN THEIR OWN BACK-GARDENS, THEN THEY COME CRYING FOR HELP.
WHAT DOES IT NEED IN WALES ?
A 1000 PLUS WELSH WRITERS LIKE ME TO SWAMP THE PRESS AND POLITICIANS WITH ANTI-WIND RHETORIC....INSTEAD OF THE INTERMINABLE FUDDY-DUDDIES WE SEE IN WALES, READY TO WRITE ON TRIVIAL ISSUES , INSTEAD OF ATTACKING THE DAMN GIGANTIC 475 FT WIND TURBINES ......LIKE MYSELF, PROF DAVID BELLAMY , LATINUS AND A FEW OTHERS !!
IT NEEDS YOU, JOHN DAVIES......AND 500 OTHER DAVIESES, PLUS 500 JONESES , PLUS 500 WILLIAMSES ET AL.......TO WRITE NON-STOP IN THE PRESS.......INSTEAD OF FIDDLING AND WORRYING OVER LITTLE CAPITAL LETTERS ON ANONYMOUS WEB-SITES !!!
GET IN THE PRESS AND CAMPAIGN AGAINST WIND FARMS !!”

“( "John Davies,
You are another one FUSSING over a few capital letters as if their usage is a "cardinal sin " ! " )
NO I'M NOT !!!
I'M FUSSING OVER YOU BEING A ********, TRYING TO SCORE POINTS OVER A TROLL & LOSING THE PLOT.
It's like watching a clockwork monkey being wound up & wildly beating it's drum.
You should be concentrating on informing people in a reasoned way (like you used to do) of the problems of wind, not sounding off like a mad zealot.
You are of course right – it is very important to try and prevent any more wind turbines being put up anywhere. The question is, how do we achieve it?”

“John Davies,
You are another one FUSSING over a few capital letters as if their usage is a "cardinal sin " !
WHY do you think so......because some internet dick made that "rule" and you followed like a sheep.
You CANNOT RANT IN PRINT, as I said earlier, because the printed word emits NO sound !!
It is YOU reading CAPITALS and exclamation marks, who gets a PERCEPTION of "ranting" or "shouting" !!
Completely misconceived !!
I AM NOT TRYING TO GAIN POPULARITY ....I AM JUST TRYING TO WAKE YOU ALL UP REGARDING THE 200 PLUS.......MONSTER ....WIND TURBINES THAT YOUR SMILING , EVER-SO-POLITE.....DEVIOUS..... POLITICIANS WANT TO DUMP IN A 55 MILE ARC ...FROM ABERDARE , CYNON VALLEY TO LLANYBYDDER, CEREDIGION , VIA NEATH , PONTARDAWE AMMANFORD AND BRECHFA FOREST !!
THAT IS ALL THAT DISTANCE IS.......55 MILES IN A CURVE !
WITHIN THAT AREA , THERE COULD EASILY BE 200 WIND TURBINES 50 FT SHORT OF BLACKPOOL TOWER !! .....BE WARNED !!
THEY WILL WRECK SOME TV RECEPTION, AND THE RACKET AT NIGHT WILL DRIVE MANY OUT OF THEIR HOMES !! MAKE NO MISTAKE !!
HOMES IN ALLTWALIS, CARMS , HAVE BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO LIVE IN .......AND IMPOSSIBLE TO SELL !”

“The Matthew,
You really take the biscuit!
You said :- notowind, your stooping to the use of foul language has now removed any credibility you might have had...
I assume that you mean that SOME DICK is foul language !! Is it really ?? What planet are you on if you think that "DICK" is FOUL language??!!.
According to you , I have lost "all credibility" for using the word "dick" , when in this context it is an abbreviation for "dick-head".
Since when is DICK foul language ? The Duke of Edinburgh uses BL*ODY in public, and even though that is pretty mild these days......it is far worse than an innocuous "dick" !
You must be one of these who FUSSES over absolute trivia, instead of getting to grips with the REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS THAT AFFECT WALES .
You gutlessly sit on a fence regarding the REALLY IMPORTANT SCOURGE of wind energy. Why have you not campaigned against the gigantic turbines in the Press ? I KNOW you have not.......because there are only 4 or 5 REAL campaigners in the whole of Wales, and I know who they all are !!
I know who has campaigning letters in the Western Mail, Carmarthen Journal, Liverpool Daily Post, Mid Wales Journal , Shropshire Star , Tivyside, Glamorgan Gazette, Rhondda Leader , et al.
Latinus is one of them, because I can tell his style. He always quotes Latin phrases in Press letters.........hence his pseudonym ,Latinus !! I know exactly who he is .”

Should be "then one CANNOT shut down ANY fossil fuel power stations".
Just wanted that to be clear !”

“Neath Boy 234,
you quote
"THE location of the British Isles at Europe's wild and windy western fringe does not always seem like a blessing. But in one important respect it is: the UK has the greatest potential for wind power, both onshore and offshore, of any European country.
Onshore wind power has expanded steadily across the UK in recent years and is a key plank of the country's commitment to greening its electricity supply. But as the turbines have gone up across the countryside, so has the level of opposition. Wind power has become a deeply divisive issue in British politics.
The issue exploded last year when 106 members of parliament, mostly Conservatives representing rural constituencies, signed a letter to Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron. They urged him to cut subsidies for the onshore wind industry, describing wind technology as "inefficient and intermittent".
ANSWERS:-
[1] It is nowhere near "wild and windy" in West Wales all the time. One can often experience a week or two , at a time, without wind on the exposed west coast of Wales. What then? If one cannot guarantee electricity 24/7, then one cann shut down ANY fossil fuel power stations !!
Obvious !!
Secondly, if it is TOO windy, wind turbines cut out and switch off.
[2] The Conservative MPs represent the English shires. They only kicked up, when ENGLAND came under increasing threat. They do not care about Wales !
103 wind turbines were erected above Llandinam , Powys in the mid Nineties. The English Press did not even report the massive 103 [in number] x 150 ft high wind turbines. English MPs said NOTHING !!
There would have been a FURORE if it was England !
When ENGLAND comes under more threat , due to the massive subsidy collecting from wind energy, then the Westminster Govt will CUT THE GENEROUS SUBSIDIES, forcing many wind farms IN WALES to go bust.
It is only the SUBSIDIES that keeps the wind energy industry going !”

“notowind, your stooping to the use of foul language has now removed any credibility you might have had. I didn't mention the size of the letters I used, you did. It seems like you measured them, not me. Perhaps it's you that's a victim of pedantry not me.
And when did I once ever say I agreed with turbines ? You also claim I live in an about to be wind turbine infested aread. I don't. Once again you assume.
You lose.”

“God help us !!
What pathetic PRIORITIES I see on here !
NO WONDER WALES IS BEING SWAMPED BY WIND TURBINES !!
BEING UPSET AS TO WHETHER A WORD IS 1 MILLIMETRE HIGH......OR IN 2 MILLIMETRE CAPITALS.......[BECAUSE SOME DICK TOLD YOU THE LATTER WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND YOU BELIEVED HIM !] IS NOW MORE IMPORTANT THAN HUNDREDS OF 475 FT WIND TURBINES.......50 FT SHORT OF BLACKPOOL TOWER......AND TREBLE THE HEIGHT AND WIDTH OF THOSE AT GILFACH GOCH !!
HOW UTTERLY, STUPIDLY PATHETIC !!
GET REAL......I DON'T EVEN LIVE IN YOUR ABOUT-TO-BE TURBINE-INFESTED AREA......I AM MILES AWAY IN A TURBINE-FREE ZONE OF WALES BECAUSE.......BECAUSE......I HAVE FOUGHT THIS BLIGHT FOR 15 YEARS WHILST YOU WORRIED ABOUT CAPITAL EFFING LETTERS ON THE INTERNET !!
WAKE UP , FOR GOODNESS SAKE !!
ARMAGEDDON IS ON ITS WAY TO SOUTH WALES !! YOU HAVE NO CLUE !!
THERE WILL BE 80 MONSTERS FROM ABERDARE TO NEATH ALONE ...... ALL VISIBLE FROM EXMOOR.....AND CAUSING FLASH-FLOODING IN THE VALLEYS !!
CONCRETE AND TARMAC DOES NOT ABSORB RAINWATER !”
