Residents want action on beach hut vandalism
ANGRY Langland residents have called for action against vandals ruining the bay's iconic beach huts.
Doors have been ripped off to build fires, as have door fastenings on refurbished, rundown and derelict huts.
Speaking at a packed meeting of the Langland Bay Residents' Association, committee member Noel Blows said they were fed up with the continued vandalism.
Mr Blows, who last year took up a 10-year lease on one of the refurbished huts, said: "Several doors were ripped off in March this year for beach bonfires and the council made repairs. In April, doors were ripped off the hinges and used for fires on the beach —it's clearly a game."
Swansea Council, which leases the huts to the public, has carried out repairs to the refurbished huts. Mumbles inspector Chris O'Brien said patrols visited the area most Fridays as that was when most problems occurred.

“If it helps I do a website on beach hut security, with police advice on making huts more secure. Also lots of links and comments and suggestions to suggest active patrolling in the area where it does not actually exist as such. See web.mac.com/beachhutman/Panopticon
it is all free advice, I cannot charge for it and where I come from we have two successful Beach Watch projects actively reducing this sort of thing.”
