Rees: Give returning Lions warm welcome
THE Ospreys have urged their supporters to turn out at the Liberty in significant numbers to give the region's returning Lions a warm welcome home tomorrow evening (6.30).
Alun Wyn Jones, Justin Tipuric, Ian Evans, Adam Jones and Richard Hibbard are all set to be involved in the Pro12 clash with Edinburgh.
And the Ospreys hope the public will respond by heading for the Liberty for the region's first home game of the season.
Assistant coach Gruff Rees said: "We want to emphasise how excited we are about trying to put points on the board at the Liberty in front of what we are hoping will be a good crowd, with lots of backing for the Lions and the rest of the squad. The aim is to create a feel-good factor at the ground, with a lot of world-class stars for people to come and view."
The Ospreys had first-hand experience of how big a role a crowd can play when almost 17,000 watched them take on Leinster in Dublin last Saturday.
"I was impressed by their crowd," said Rees. "You get close on 17,000 supporting a champion team and it does make a hell of a difference. You could see that in the closing quarter when we put them under pressure, but the crowd lifted their 14 men."
