Recycling figures on rise
RESIDENTS of the upper Swansea Valley have helped Powys Council gain the best improvement in recycling rates in Wales.
Provisional figures released by the Welsh Government showed the authority increased its recycling rate by 10 per cent during January to March 2013, compared to the same period in 2012. It is the best improvement shown by any local authority in Wales for the second time in a row.
Barry Thomas, cabinet member for waste and recycling said: "Powys's recycling rate is rising quickly and has constantly improved over the last two years and we would like to thank householders for their efforts to date. However too much valuable material is still going to landfill."
