Real's Gareth Bale not match fit for qualifiers, says Chris Coleman
WALES manager Chris Coleman has admitted Gareth Bale is not fit enough to play 90 minutes in the World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Serbia, but is hopeful he can make an appearance.
The world’s most expensive player flew back to Cardiff on Monday night, having been unveiled to the Real Madrid fans at the Bernabeu at lunchtime following his £86 million move from Spurs
Bale made it clear at his unveiling he was keen to join up with Wales in order to regain fitness ahead of his Real debut, but Coleman has urged caution, especially with Bale having not played since July.
“If he is not ready we will not risk him, regardless of whether it is a world record fee,” said Coleman, ahead of Friday’s match against Macedonia in Skopje.
“We are aware a lot of people will want to see him play in the home game against Serbia.
“But he has no chance of playing 90 minutes on Friday or on Tuesday.”
