IT is time for a zero tolerance on fly horse grazing in and around Swansea. No excuses or delays.

Any horse left abandoned or tethered on common or public land should be humanely taken to rescue site for treatment, food/water and comfort and to assess their condition.

They should be provided with treatment and the males gelded to control future numbers.

We as a society should take care of them.

One of the most pitiful sights I have seen in animal welfare (and I have seen a few) is the sight of the poor mare and her foal in the sea on February 14. Please someone tell me they were rescued. It's about time ordinary and decent people who are the vast majority stood up and were counted.

Swansea's local authority must now provide humane shelter for horses and foals, they have ignored the problem for too long. And they need volunteers who can work with the local authority to raise funds to support a Swansea local horse sanctuary.

Anyone preventing removal of horses to safety should be prosecuted and fined for the rescue costs.

How many more seasons do we have to see horses exposed to fireworks, dog attacks, people abuse, the elements, to starve?

I donate the first £100 toward rescuing that mare and her foal and will willingly give up my time to generate funds for a Swansea horse sanctuary. Who else will join me? Ring 07811 651139.
