Punk poet makes summer date in Gower
SELF-PROCLAIMED punk poet John Cooper Clarke will be performing at the Gower Heritage Centre, Parkmill, this summer.
Mr Clarke first came to prominence performing during the punk scene in the 1970s when he opened for acts such as Joy Division, Sex Pistols and The Damned.
He has recently had one of his poems selected to be part of the English GCSE curriculum. He has also been featured on the BBC's Culture Show, as well as BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6 Music.
He will be joined at the heritage centre by Carwyn Ellis from Welsh band Colorama, who have recently released their new mini-album, Llyfr Lliwio (Colouring Book)
Mr Ellis has performed with the likes of Oasis, Shane McGowan and more recently Edwyn Collins.
The front man of Swansea indie band Ringolevio, Josh Ace, will also be singing an acoustic solo set.
In the coming months there will be a competition for budding poets aged between 14 and 18 to compete for the chance to perform at the event, which takes place on June 23.

“He was at the "Garage" in the Uplands last year, well worth seeing him again.”
