Protest against turbines
A PROTEST against wind farms is set to take place in the Swansea Valley to coincide with Owain Glyndwr Day on Sunday.
The event, being organised by action group Balchder Cymru in Pontardawe, is to protest about the huge turbines that are currently being placed on Mynydd Y Betws.
Protest spokesman Russell Gwilym Morris said: "Bring your posters and placards and banners, and remember your Glyndwr flags. The thing is in Cymru we produce more energy than we currently use, so why should we be used as a power pack for the rest of Britain?
"Why should we cover our hills and mountains for the benefit of giant corporations and a foreign state? Nuclear is not the answer and neither are monster turbines, have a think of how many homes, factories, hospitals and schools are in Cymru."

"Ohhhh to finally have a choice, left/middle/right, am I aloud a personal choice or are those my only options, cos if they are, none of the above.
We've got all types on here, they even let an extreme right wing nationalist post on here. He's quite an amusing sort of chap, not very bright, but he does keep us amused with his ranting and raving. No doubt you'll come across him.”

“I know - perhaps all the Glyndwrians could collect all the unused bilingual leaflets. Then they could be incinerated to generate electricity. I mean they're just trees from another part of the planet.
Hypocrites.”

“Dull article & dull comments. Decision made - wind energy going ahead - lets see what they can do - you know it makes sense.”

“NeathPTboy No during the past few months the price of steel has fallen a great deal, as you may or may not know wind turbines are made from steel. That's the difference between Oil and steel, oil is running out fast and Iron(steel) is not. Ggain basic supply and demand”

“OMG siarad2 your mixing up the cost of producing energy with the cost of energy being sold. Schoolboy error on your behalf, understandable though. It might eventually sink in with you when the price of oil reaches $500/barrel. It's all about supply and demand my friend.”

“@Neatboy234
OMG you're at it again, wind energy rises in line with the price of oil as does gas & coal.
Again I quote the answer to my enquiry on this matter:
"Please note that green tariffs are not only more expensive but also tend to move up and down with energy prices generally. Therefore applying for a green product will not protect you from future price increases."
Aren't these new turbines Irish owned. via Cambrian Renewable Energy Limited (CREL), which is owned by the ESB, Ireland's main electricity utility company, so we'll be exporting money of which shortage Welsh industry is complaining.”

“If the cost of oil has increased then surely the cost to manufacture wind turbines must also have increased, during the manufacturing stage, the shipping stage, the transportation via roads to its final destination and during the construction phase(not forgetting all the fuel consumed and in the police escorts and police force wages).”
