WHILE Ben Morgan looks to make his breakthrough with England on the big Six Nations stage, Scarlets No. 8 Kieran Murphy is relishing his opportunity to grab the spotlight back in Llanelli.

Turn the clock back 12 months and you would hear Morgan talking about taking his opportunity at regional level with Wallaby David Lyons recovering from injury.

Now, in the wake of Lyons's departure to Stade Francais and Morgan's rapid elevation into the international ranks, it is 24-year-old Murphy who is next off the Parc y Scarlets production line looking to deliver.

"Ben has done superbly to get called up by England and I am looking forward to seeing how he goes in the Six Nations. Hopefully he can show people what he can do on the international stage," said Murphy.

"As for me, hopefully, it is a chance to come in and do a job."

Murphy, who was playing for Mumbles in division three west just over a year ago, has been one of the finds of the season down west.

Snapped up by Llandovery, he was invited to train at the Scarlets in pre-season and made an immediate impact with a two-try man-of-the- match display in the opening LV= Cup victory over Leicester Tigers at Parc y Scarlets.

"This has been a good competition for us," he added.

"The philosophy here has been to give the younger guys a chance and everyone has stepped up and played well when the opportunities have come.

"We have worked hard in the LV and we are focused on getting a result at Sale tomorrow and getting that home semi-final.

"It will be great to have that game at Parc y Scarlets, the home support we are getting really gives us a lift.

"We have had a look at Sale and they are a similar side to Irish, very physical, who can also throw it about.

"It is probably going be to be an attritional game, but we won't shy away from that, hopefully we can front up, take the wind out of their sails early on and get the win."

Murphy's progress this season has also been hailed by head coach Nigel Davies.

"Kieran is going down a similar path to Ben," said Davies. "He is already showing really promising signs and with another year's conditioning we are expecting big things from him."
