PROPOSALS to help small businesses access finance have been launched by the Welsh Conservatives today.

The party has unveiled Invest Wales, a local bank funded through the Welsh Government, which would make money available to small businesses, enabling them to invest and expand.

The proposals would create six local banks operating under the Invest Wales board, working in conjunction with existing retail banks.

Shadow Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science, Nick Ramsay, said: "Small and medium-sized businesses are telling us that the greatest barrier to economic prosperity is the ability to lend money from the banks.
