BUILTH Wells driver Jason Pritchard was the winner of the Eventsigns Mewla Rally Epynt.

Second place and maximum championship points were enough to confirm Damian Cole and co-driver Craig Drew as 2010 REIS MSA Asphalt Rally champions.

Cole and Drew trailed Peter Lloyd and Graham Handley after an incorrect tyre choice for the first couple of stages.

Intermittent showers made the going treacherous for everyone, but fastest times from Cole on both the fifth and sixth stages began eating into Lloyd's lead.

However, on SS7 it nearly spelt disaster when a light on the Focus WRC's dashboard distracted Cole, with the car flying off the road at top speed.

There was little damage, but a minute had been lost.

At the start of the final stage Cole was down in third place, but Lloyd's Subaru slid off the road into a ditch from where there was no escape.

Fourth overall were Bob Fowden and Aled Davies in their Subaru Impreza, with Geoff Kitney and Ken Gibbard fifth with their Mitsubishi Lancer.
