ABERAVON held on to a 12-11 win over Newport at Rodney Parade last night as the hosts missed last-minute conversion and drop-goal attempts.
With the Wizards down to 14 men for the last seven minutes, Newport were camped in their visitors' 22 but, despite a late Owen Broad try, they could not snatch victory.

Richard Carter scored Aberavon's second try in their 12-11 win at Newport
Aberavon had trailed 6-5 at half-time, with Gareth Harvey's unconverted try wiped out by two Tom Hancock penalties.
Simon King's men regained the lead after 63 minutes, as Richard Carter finished well in the corner and Jamie Davies converted to nudge the Wizards 12-6 in front.
