Premier League transfer talk: August 19
EVERTON have rejected a joint £28 million bid from Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.
United boss David Moyes knows both players well having managed them during his time in charge at Goodison Park.
An Everton club statement read: “Everton can confirm that it has received bids from Manchester United for two players. Those bids were immediately rejected out of hand as derisory and insulting.”
CHELSEA manager Jose Mourinho still has hopes of signing another striker before the transfer window shuts.
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney remains a target, and Mourinho said: “We will try till the last day to add a new player to the squad, a striker, but in this moment every striker has a club.”
MANCHESTER City manager Manuel Pellegrini says it is up to Gareth Barry whether he stays at the Etihad or leaves.
“I spoke with Gareth. He wants to stay here and he does not have any problems staying here to fight for his position like any other player in the squad,” said Pellegrini.
“If he wants to go because he has better options, it depends on what he wants to do.”
LIVERPOOL could face competition from Tottenham for the signature of Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian, who is valued at £26 million by his club Anzhi.
