Premier League transfer talk: August 15
West Brom boss Steve Clarke has confirmed talks with Manchester City over a move for winger Scott Sinclair are ongoing.
Albion are reportedly keen to take Sinclair, who joined City from Swansea last summer but only made three starts, on a season-long loan.
Clarke said: “I know there was initial contact between the clubs and I know there has been continued contact between the clubs.
“Beyond that, I don’t know if we are close to a deal or if we are far away from a deal.
“There are still talks ongoing at this moment in time.”
Clarke has already completed permanent signings in striker Nicolas Anelka and defender Diego Lugano, as well as recruiting frontman Matej Vydra and Dynamo Kiev full-back Goran Popov on loan deals.
Clarke said: “If I could get two more in, I’d be happy. “And if I could get three more, then I think we’d be set.”
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that the buy-out clause in Marouane Fellaini’s contract expired at the end of July.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester United as former Toffees boss David Moyes looks to strengthen his squad at Old Trafford.
But Martinez said: “Marouane had a buy-out clause where it was very straightforward. If someone met that valuation, the club had no say. That finished on July 31 so during that period everyone was a bit expectant.”
Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed he is confident of adding to his squad before the transfer window closes.
United have had a couple of bids for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas rejected, but Moyes is expecting some new arrivals at Old Trafford.
He said: “I’m confident we will have players in. We are involved in several players we are looking at and that will continue. Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so. We are working very hard.”
Michael Dawson insists the Tottenham squad has not been affected by the speculation surrounding Gareth Bale’s future.
Bale’s future at White Hart Lane has dominated the headlines this summer, with Real Madrid openly pursing the Welshman.
But Dawson claims the rest of the squad are unfazed by the issue.
He said: “He is going to attract speculation.
“The manager has said he’s staying, the chairman has also, so as players we just keep our heads down and work hard.”
Goalkeeper Neil Alexander has sealed a free transfer move to Crystal Palace from Rangers.
Lyon coach Remi Garde is hopeful that Newcastle target Bafetimbi Gomis will sign a new deal with the French club.
