ONE of two men charged with the murder of a retired Port Talbot farmer has appeared in court.

Llewelyn Thomas was found dead at his home in Chittering, near Cambridge, more than a year ago.

Mr Thomas, aged 76, had farmed in the Margam and Cefn Cribbwr areas before moving to Cambridgeshire with his wife 12 years ago on his retirement.

Frankie Parker, 25, of Nene Road, Ely, and Gary Smith, 20, of no fixed address, were both arrested on Tuesday and charged with the pensioner's murder.

Parker appeared at Cambridge Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded in custody until next Wednesday.

Smith is set to appear next Thursday, February 14.

Mr Thomas was discovered in his home in Ely Road on the morning of Sunday, December 18, 2011. He was last seen alive the previous evening.
