Port Talbot and Afan Lido on the road in Word Cup
PORT Talbot and Afan Lido will both be on their travels in the second round of the Word Cup.
After their 2-1 victory at Newtown, Scott Young's side head to Aberdare where Young will pit himself against former Cardiff City defensive partner Lee Phillips, who captained Llanelli to victory in the old League Cup in 2007-08.
"Winning breeds confidence.
"I'm not too sure if this game alone will get us to where we should be but it's definitely going to help us on our away," reflected Young on the cup win.
"We were comfortable in the first half without really setting the world on fire. We could have got one or two more maybe and in the second-half we sat back and invited Newtown onto us.
"They eventually got their goal, which came through our own mistakes and for the last few minutes we were under serious pressure. But we have come away with a win which was the most important thing."
As for Lido, 4-3 winners against Taffs Well on Tuesday night, they will take on the winners of the Aberystwyth v Cambrian & Clydach tie.
Debutants Casey Thomas — who signed on deadline day from Carmarthen — and former Swansea City youngster Jandir Zola, were on the scoresheet for Lido against Taffs Well with Scott McCoubrey claiming a brace, including a penalty.
Word Cup: 2nd rd draw (South) Aberdare Town v Port Talbot Town, Aberystwyth or Cambrian & Clydach v Afan Lido.
One-leg matches to be played on Sept 24/25.
