Pop-up scheme for job creation
HOUSING provider Grwp Gwalia is to co-ordinate a Big Lottery-funded pop-up employment scheme across South Wales.
The Pop Up Talent initiative has been created by The Foyer Federation charity, a UK-wide youth organisation which helps young people with housing and training needs. It featured on Channel 4's The Secret Millions in April, when it was awarded £2 million by The Big Lottery Fund.
Of this, £55,000 of this has been allocated specifically to South Wales and in the spring will be rolled out by Swansea-based Gwalia to centres including Swansea and Neath Foyers, as well as Llanelli Llety Foyer and Ammanford.
The Talent Shops promote employment, training and enterprise and facilitate local employers to showcase their business and services, while young people enrolled in the scheme can experience a 'taster' of working with these different companies.
Gwalia's director of support Andrew Vye said: "We look forward to supporting young people throughout Wales in reaching their potential and accessing work opportunities."
