Pontyates 19-year-old admits three counts of exposure

A 19-YEAR-OLD who exposed himself on three different occasions has appeared in court.

Aaron Williams admitted three offences of exposure at Swansea Crown Court.

He did so in his home by performing a sex act with the light on so the acts could be seen through a net curtain.

Frances Jones, prosecuting, said Williams had accepted the offences in interview.

Mr Jones told the court Williams, of Maesglas, Pontyates, had a previous conviction for inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity.

In June 2009, Williams also received a reprimand by committing an incident which outraged public decency.

James Jenkins, representing Williams, said his client needed help from the probation services.

"I am quite sure what he does need is someone to quietly sit down to talk to and who can give back to him rational views. He's not a stupid young man," said Mr Jenkins.

The court heard he had previously been approved to join the army until he committed his previous offences.

Judge Peter Heywood, sentencing Williams to a community order, said: "It's a form of exhibitionism. You are clearly aroused and getting some sort of thrill out of it.

"I have told you and your barrister I did not want to pass a sentence to punish you, I wanted to pass a sentence to address your behaviour to ensure it's not repeated," said Judge Heywood, before imposing a 12-month community order and 12 months' supervision.

The judge warned Williams's barrister: "If there's a repetition of this kind of offending or sexual offences he will find himself languishing in prison.

"He's a relatively young man. I hope he engages with supervision to make sure he tries to put this kind of offending behind him," added the judge.
