Pontarddulais woman calls on dog owners to clean up their pets acts
A PONTARDDULAIS mother of two has spelt out her frustration at dog owners who do not clean up after their pets.
Stephanie Bonnewell is so fed up with having to dodge dog poo outside her Coedbach Road home she has erected her own sign asking owners to show more consideration.
The mum of two boys aged five and 15-months said: "They are letting their dogs off their leads and they are going up my path to do it by the gate. It's disgusting.
"I don't see why I should have to pick up other people's dog's poo.
"It's been going on since we moved here a year last April. I have to manage a toddler and a push chair so as you can imagine it's not nice.
"I think they leave their dogs off the lead and the dogs go by the side of my house.
"I have placed a sign up saying 'please pick up your dog poo.'
"I think owners need to be responsible. If they can't pick up their dog poo then they shouldn't be allowed to keep dogs.
"I have a puppy and my mother has two great Danes which we walk every day and we always pick up their poo."
The mother raised the matter at the town's Pact meeting this week.
Police Community Support Officer Nicola Silvey said: "The problem is catching them."
Fellow support officer Tom O'Neale added: "If we saw them we could fine them."
Pontarddulais town mayor, councillor David Beynon said: "There has been a write up in the press about the new wardens but I haven't seen them in Pontarddulais. We have as much right to have them here as in Swansea. We pay the same rates."
A spokesman for Swansea Council said: "The introduction of the new litter enforcement team will enable us to carry out even more enforcement in communities throughout Swansea."
