Pond site gets a makeover for new plant life
A MUCH-LOVED pond has been transformed after a six-year effort by volunteers.
In that time the Friends of Penllergaer Pond have been hard at work to improve the Swansea Council-owned site. Members of the community group have cleared the site, lined the pond with clay and built pathways.

And the final part of the scheme involved planting 350 trees to provide a windbreak and introducing a variety of aquatic plants to the pond.
Friends chairman Jeff Williams said he was grateful for money from WREN — Waste Recycling Environmental — to finish the project.
Grant information is available from Meleri Jones at WREN on 01248 674907.
