Policy just bullies docs
WHAT is the Principality coming to when doctors cannot practice medicine for which they have spent six years in training without being subjected to a barrage of bullying tactics from every angle to provide treatment in Welsh?
The Assembly are leaving no stone unturned to force the population into speaking Welsh having already committed to date £20 million, only to find that surveys show a decline in usage.
The aim of any branch of medicine is to do no harm but heal the patient in the shortest possible time.
With the launch of a new App doctors will be expected to carry it at all times for reference purposes.
There are two hypothetical cases which could lead to patient mortality. In one a doctor is about to give an adrenaline injection to a patient but stops to consult his app to find the correct Welsh for syringe and needle in the meantime the patient has gone into respiratory and cardiac failure.
The second case is a surgeon about to operate on a ruptured appendix but has to consult his app for the correct word for lancet before the patient is anaesthetised leaving the patient with septicaemia. Any organisation being this irresponsible would be open to legal action for medical negligence.
