South Wales Police is giving the public a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse of its work on one of the busiest days of the year via social media.

The eyes of the world will be on South Wales on Saturday when Wales take on England in Cardiff in a Six Nations decider and Swansea City play Arsenal at the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League.

#supersaturday will feature on the force’s @swpolice Twitter featuring the policing operations in Cardiff and Swansea as well as showcasing the work of officers across the force area.

The aim is to tell the story of a day in the life of South Wales Police by showing the public how much work goes on to ensure people can enjoy the day in safety.

Assistant Chief Constable Matt Jukes said: “Social media is already transforming the way in which we communicate as a police force.

“We have nearly 20,000 people following the @swpolice Twitter account and 7,000 followers on Facebook and those numbers are only going to increase.

“By building on this following our operation on #supersaturday will allow us to engage positively and reach many more people than would ever have been possible otherwise.”
