Police get tough on yob youths
POLICE have been cracking down on troublemakers in Birchgrove.
They have issued warnings for drugs and motorbike offences and are working to identify troublesome youths.
More action will follow in the build-up to Halloween and November 5.
Youth annoyance has been on the agenda for Pact meetings for months.
Police support officer Phil Williams said patrols had been conducted and drugs warrants executed, resulting in two people being given cautions for cannabis possession.
Two motorcyclists were also given warnings, which means their bikes will be impounded if they cause problems again.
"Officers are working with residents to identify youths involved in causing recent antisocial behaviour in the area," said Mr Williams.
"Eastside neighbourhood policing team will be visiting local schools over the forthcoming weeks in relation to Operation Bang, which will run through Halloween and Bonfire Night, and will focus on antisocial behaviour."
