POLICE investigating a robbery which saw a woman threatened with a hammer have released CCTV images of the motorbiking suspects.

The victim was robbed as she left the Cwmfelin social club in Manselton, Swansea, at lunchtime on Monday, January 30.

A man wielding a hammer approached her and demanded the bag she was carrying.

She initially refused, but after being threatened with the hammer handed over the bag, which contained cash from the club.

The robber then made off on the back of a waiting motorbike.

Officers have released  CCTV images taken near the Courtney Street social club immediately before the incident, and are urging anyone who can identify the people in the pictures to come forward.

Detective Inspector Darren George of Swansea Central CID said: “We are continuing to investigate the robbery at the Cwmfelin social club

“We have released CCTV stills which show the both suspects moments before the incident.

“We believe that there were a number of persons in the vicinity of Courtney Street, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw the these men and who can assist in their identity — or who has any relevant information — to come forward.”

He added: “To date there has been a positive response from the public, and  I would once again urge anyone with information no matter how insignificant they may feel it be to come forward.”

The robbery happened around 12.15pm on Monday, January 30,  as the victim — a committee member from the club — and another member of staff were leaving the building.

Police believe the robber was waiting nearby on the back of a black Suzuki motorbike.

After snatching the cash he ran back to the bike, remounted as a pillion, and rode off along Courtney Street towards Manselton.

The Suzuki bike was later recovered by police on a path leading from Prince Of Wales Road near Dyfatty traffic lights.

The suspect who approached the victim has been described by police as male, and of medium build. He was wearing a yellow, full-face motorcycle helmet, black trousers and a black jacket.

The motorcycle rider also wore a full face helmet.

A 27-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
