RESIDENTS in a Baglan street have been asked to spread the word that police are out to punish bad parking.

Officers have warned they will dish out tickets if drivers are caught parking illegally.

Residents of Willow Grove have repeatedly complained of vehicles being parked on pavements, despite the double yellow lines.

One of them told a Baglan Pact meeting: "They are parking on the pavement right outside my house.

"One weekend I couldn't get out of the gate."

She complained of a specific car that, she said, was repeatedly parked outside her home.

"My neighbour parked on the pavement once and they had her straightaway," she added.

"She was fined £30, yet this man is there all the time and he's got a big car."

PCSO Emma Everson said: "We will come out and book him as well.

"Spread the word. If people are parking on the pavement up there, they will get a ticket."

“It's a good job that this article is only about a PCSO's promise to deal with parking on double yellow lines otherwise, we'd get all sorts of agitated comments.”

    “@torquemada
It's not trivial a friend of mine was killed due to this in fog by correctly going to the left to find a wall & crashing into the front of a lorry, with lights on, when swerving back. My other friend on the pillion lived to tell the tale.
In any event it was always policed when we had beat cops unlike now but then drivers actually learnt the highway code unlike today.”

“Twinkles; You may well be right in your cynical assessment however it is my hope that a "Socialist" Commissioner will try to address drugs trafficking as an issue that blights working class communities. A novel idea but worthwhile and if carried through by a Labour Politician who actually wants to do something useful it would make the idea of PCC's worthwhile too.”

“But it's not going to happen is it? The PPC won't get an OBE for tackling Domestic Violence or Drug Dealing will he? Why not? Because such crimes are not headline hitting stories. Even when you see a story that the police have seized 20k of cash and sent a person to prison, the comments (on here) are far from favouring are they?

Although the PCC will hit plenty of headlines saying antisocial behaviour has been eradicated from Baglan wouldn't you agree? Now that's where we touch on the political side of the PPC which of course is another arguement for another day.”

“Parking issues do not need either a PCSO nor a warranted Police Officer to resolve them; if the PCC really wants to achieve something useful he needs to encourage the Police to tackle serious issues such as drugs or domestic violence. If he doesn't they will go about their own sweet way responding to middle class busy bodies with parking problems or anti social littering or horrors like dog mess.”

“Weslangdon, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the priorities that the PCC will set will be based on what the public want. This is the only common message of all 4 candidates perhaps you haven't yet taken it upon yourself to look?

What the public want is what they tell officers at regular PACT meetings. Why not take a moment and look on the police website and see for yourself what the residents have said they want addressed in their community? Better still, why not pop along yourself and tell them at the next meeting that you want the drug problem solved? Or would that go against your very one sided armchair opinion? I realise very few know the full extent of the PCCs job for now, but some of the answers are out there if you care to just take a moment and read before making ill informed comments on what you regard as 'needing' a PCC.”

“To be honest i find parking on pavements very annoying. And as for parking outside someones driveway, well that drives me mad. So mad that when it happened to me about 10 years ago i ended up nearly getting arrested. I made the incredible hulk look like the local vicar in comparison, it cost me about £200 as well paying for the damage i caused. To be honest the police were very understanding, i couldn't fault them at all. They also let off if i agreed to pay a bit of compo.

t's quite funny looking back, but at the time it was very frightening, especially for the man who'd parked on my driveway. I've got to say i'm not like that anymore, i'm a changed men. I guess the moral of this story is that a bit of careless parking can lead to a lot of trouble. And my advice to anyone is if it happens to you call the police, don't take the law into your own hands like i did. Believe you me it's not worth it.,”

“The Police should give this job to the local council PCSO's. They know the local bad parking areas and frees up the Police to deal with serious crime. PCSO's should also be used to "police" by slowing down cars near schools and to ticket parents and grandparents who drive their cars along footpaths into schools and drop of children in no drop off zones as children arrive or leave school.”

“hey siarad, "parking the wrong way round at night, a very common dangerous law breaking"

you seriously want tax payers money to be spent on policing something as petty as that? Get a grip, get a life

-Its not against the law anyway

What a joke, Coppers doing the jobs of traffic wardens pml”
